Acura Engines
Finding the right Acura engine
Acura’s engines are Honda’s: the K-series four-cylinders and the J-series V6 family shared with the Accord, Odyssey and Pilot, joined more recently by a 2.0L turbo four, a 3.0L turbo V6 for the Type S models and a 1.5L turbo in the Integra. That shared lineage widens the pool of good used engines for any one Acura.
It also means a “3.5L V6” is not one thing. The J-series has been revised many times, and the code — J32A1, J35Z6, J37A4 — matters more than the displacement. Give us your VIN and we’ll match the exact one.

FAQ
Used Acura engine questions, answered
How do I find out which engine my Acura has?
The engine code is stamped on the block just below the cylinder head, and on most models the eighth character of the VIN identifies the engine. Send us the full VIN and we will confirm the exact version, including the model-year changes that matter for fit.
What is the difference between a used, remanufactured and rebuilt engine?
A used engine is a tested unit taken from a donor vehicle. A rebuilt engine has been disassembled, repaired and reassembled. A remanufactured engine has been restored to like-new condition. Tell us your vehicle and budget and we will recommend the right option.
Will a Honda J35 fit my Acura?
Sometimes. Acura’s V6s are the same J-series family Honda uses in the Accord, Odyssey and Pilot, but the family has many versions and, for example, the 3.5L J35Z6 and 3.7L J37A4 in the 2009–2014 TL are not interchangeable. We match by engine code and model year, so send us your VIN.
Does a used Acura engine come with a warranty?
Yes. Every engine we sell is covered by warranty, and extended cover is available at extra cost. The full terms are in our Warranty Policy.
