Finding the right Toyota transmission
Toyota builds its transmissions in families and gives each one a code — U760E, A750F, UA80E — that says more than the model name does. The same family turns up in several models, which makes a good used unit easier to find.
Within one model, the four-cylinder and V6 versions usually have different transmissions, and hybrids use a separate transaxle altogether. Tell us the engine and model year, or give us your VIN, and we’ll match the right one.

Four-speed automatics
The A140E and A541E in the Camry to 2001 and the A245E in the Corolla, followed by the U241E and U341E in the Camry, Corolla, Matrix and Yaris.
Five- and six-speed automatics — U-series
The U250E and U151E five-speeds in the Camry and Solara of the mid-2000s, then the six-speed U760E for four-cylinder cars and U660E for V6 cars — Camry, Avalon, RAV4, Sienna and Venza.
Eight-speed Direct Shift — UA80 and UB80
From 2017: the UA80 behind the V6 in the Camry, Highlander, Sienna and Avalon, and the UB80 behind the 2.5L in the Camry and RAV4.
Truck and SUV automatics
The four-speed A340 in the Tacoma, 4Runner and early Tundra; the five-speed A750 in the 4Runner, Tacoma V6 and Tundra; and the six-speed A760 and AB60 in the Tundra and Sequoia.
CVT
The Direct Shift-CVT, which adds a launch gear, used with the 2.0L in the Corolla and Corolla Cross.
Hybrid transaxles
Electronically controlled transaxles with the motor-generators built in. Each hybrid generation of the Prius, Camry, RAV4 and Highlander uses a different one.

How do I know which transmission my Toyota has?
It depends on the model, engine and model year, and cars built near a changeover can have either of two units. Send us your VIN and we will identify it for you.
Do four-cylinder and V6 Toyotas share a transmission?
Usually not. In the Camry, for example, the four-cylinder and V6 cars have used different transmissions in every generation. Always match the transmission to the engine.
Do you supply Toyota hybrid transaxles?
Yes. Tell us the model and model year, because each hybrid generation uses a different unit and none interchanges with a conventional automatic.
