Engine Options
Which engine does your Acadia have?
Three generations of Acadia have used three sets of engines: the 3.6L High Feature V6 in port-injected LY7 and direct-injected LLT form on the 2007–2016 Lambda, the 2.5L Ecotec four, 3.6L LGX V6 and 2.0L turbo four on the 2017–2023 C1XX, and a single 2.5L turbo four on the 2024-on third generation.
The table below shows what was offered when. The first-generation body was sold for one more year as the Acadia Limited alongside the new 2017 model, and the two first-generation 3.6Ls are not interchangeable, so we confirm from the VIN before we quote.
| Engine | Code | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 3.6L V6, port injection | Code: LY7 | 2007–2008; 275 hp. |
| 3.6L V6, direct injection | Code: LLT | 2009–2016; 288 hp. |
| 3.6L V6, direct injection | Code: LGX | Acadia Limited only; 310 hp. |
| Engine | Code | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 2.5L four-cylinder Ecotec | Code: LCV | 2017–2021; 194 hp. Dropped for 2022. |
| 3.6L V6, direct injection | Code: LGX | All years; 310 hp. |
| 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder | Code: LSY | 2020–2023; the standard engine from 2022. |
| Engine | Code | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 2.5L turbocharged four-cylinder | Code: LK0 | The only engine; 328 hp. |

Before You Order
What to check before you order
Which 3.6L
The port-injected LY7 of 2007–2008 and the direct-injected LLT of 2009–2016 are different engines and do not interchange, and the LGX in the Acadia Limited and the 2017–2023 Acadia is a third version. We match the code, not the displacement.
Two 2017 Acadias
The Acadia Limited sold for 2017 is the first-generation body with the LGX V6, sold alongside the new 2017 Acadia with its own 2.5L and 3.6L. The VIN tells us which you have.
Two 2.5L engines
The 2017–2021 2.5L Ecotec (LCV) is naturally aspirated; the 2024-on 2.5L (LK0) is a different, turbocharged engine. Tell us the year.
Have your VIN ready
With the VIN we can confirm the engine, model year and body before we quote, which avoids ordering the wrong version.
Common Problems
Common Acadia engine problems
Timing-chain wear — 3.6L LY7 and LLT, 2007–2016
Long oil-change intervals and the early engines’ PCV design wear the three timing chains, which sets codes P0008 and P0016–P0019 and, left alone, damages the engine. The 2007–2009 engines were the worst affected, and GM Special Coverage 11340 paid for chain replacement or a control-module reprogram on the 2007 and 2009 Acadia; that coverage has expired.
Fuel-pump recall — 2017
Recall 18V-358 covers 2017 Acadias whose high-pressure fuel pump can detach and leak fuel, with a fire risk. Have an open recall done by a dealer before paying for engine work.
Fuel-line recall — 2021
Recall 21V-422 covers 2021 Acadias with a fuel supply line that may not be seated, so a fuel smell or leak on one of these is a recall check first.

FAQ
Acadia engine questions, answered
Which 3.6L does my Acadia have?
2007–2008 Acadias have the port-injected LY7, 2009–2016 the direct-injected LLT, and the 2017 Acadia Limited and all 2017–2023 Acadias the LGX. The VIN confirms it.
My Acadia has timing-chain codes. Was that covered by GM?
Special Coverage 11340 covered timing-chain replacement on the 2007 and 2009 Acadia, but it has since expired. If the chains are worn and nothing else is damaged, it is a chain job; once the wear has damaged the engine, a replacement engine is the usual answer. Send us the VIN and we’ll quote the right one.
Is the 2.5L in a 2024 Acadia the same engine as the 2017–2021 2.5L?
No. The 2017–2021 engine is the naturally aspirated 2.5L Ecotec; the 2024-on engine is a 2.5L turbo with 328 hp, and the two are different engines.
Is the engine covered by a warranty?
Yes. Every engine we sell is covered by warranty, and extended cover is available at extra cost. The full terms are in our Warranty Policy.
